Nitrous oxide is a very safe and effective sedative gas that can provide mild analgesia, while allowing the patient to remain conscious and responsive. During the administration of nitrous oxide, patients remain aware of their surrounds, but feel an overwhelming sense of calmn and relaxation. Other sensations from laughing gas include a pleasant tingling in your arms and legs, an airy lightheaded feeling, and an overall sense of euphoria.

Nitrous oxide is effective almost immediately upon administration with a nose cone, and wears off within 3-5 minutes after the gas supply is terminated. Best of all, there is no "hangover" effect and patients are safe to drive themselves home after an appointment.
